Attic

From the point at which a run of lower roof tie beams started – in the area which had been the coachman’s accommodation, we had a structural engineer design a system that sandwiched the original beams with glued and screwed structural ply which, along with steel ties from the beams to the walls, created a rigid box structure which allowed us to make effective use of the roof area for storage and living. This space is now accessed via a feature custom-made, self-supporting oak and glass staircase from the living room.
